Once upon a time many years ago I was blessed to look out of my window one early winter morning and seen a world dominated by snow. The rooftops were covered in blankets of snow and the ground was white everywhere.
The winter had begun and shown us its dangerous yet amazing beauty within snow. People were dusting off snow from their cars. A few skids of car wheels could be heard. Snow is romantic yet dangerous and exciting.
Smoke poured out from chimney to chimney and it was like a scene from Victorian England. A snow kissed scene from a yesteryear.
There was icicles hanging from the pipes and the gutters. The pond was frozen and children were daring to stand on the solid ice panicing in case they fell through into icy waters. It was a magical scene which even in the bleakest coldest of seasons there is beauty and amazement.
Everyone wore gloves and hats and scarves to keep warm. People walked their dogs in the silent winter weather. Their breaths appeared from them like a steam engine. The winter morning was of wonder. I looked round and basked in the beautiful morning. Nature was silent and it had become outside a kingdom of Children.
Schools were closed and children stayed in the snow long into the day. All they had to do was enjoy life and play.
Laughter and fun filled the air, snowballs flying everywhere. Children built snowmen and enjoyed the snow in their hands. A winters walk of romance for others and the white glass of ice under their feet.
Snow clung onto the trees and hung onto the rooftops. The sky turning white just like the canvas on the floor.
A Robin pecked at the ice in a bird bath. It was a wonderful scene.
Its a magic time on a magical day from my own history which the memory has always stayed with me.
The beauty of winter, the creeping early winter night, Heralds the arrival of the coseyness of the firelight,
The darkness of Winter, with the cold chill in the air, warmly lit houses everywhere,
Oh the sombre of winter, quickly setting on the horizon does the sun go, soon you will embrace us with your hazardous yet beautiful snow,
Oh the darkness of winter, I feel your hostile frosty glare, your bitter cold presence, yet you install romance everywhere,
Oh everywhere you have wrapped in your blanket of frost, Cold yet amazed by winter, in this beauty I am so lost,
Oh the sombre winter, how I love to be safe and warm at home, by the fireside, away from you winter my old foe who I have always known,
Oh the darkness of winter, of your dangers I am all to aware, icey roads everywhere,
But tonight winter my old foe, upon this night,
Be sure I am safe under the cosey warmth of wonderful firelight
